Upgrade System

From Asda Story Wiki

[edit] Intro

The new upgrade system is pretty simplistic at the moment. The only items able to be upgraded are Armors and Weapons. None of the component items, (Such as Regents, Jewels, and Empty Warrents), are necessary for upgrading.

[edit] Process

Upgrading weapons and armor is fairly simple. First, you must aquire an Upgrade Scroll. These can be purchased from NPC Misc. items Shops, found from mobs, or dug up. NPC scrolls vary in accordance to rank.

Rank system:

  • Rank D: 0-19
  • Rank C: 20-39
  • Rank B: 40-59
  • Rank A: 60-79
  • Rank S: 80-99~100

You will need to look at the level requirement for the piece of equipment you wish to upgrade, and aquire a scroll to which the equipment fits. I.E. A level 35 weapon will require a C Rank Upgrade Scroll. Furthermore, you must purchase an Upgrade Scroll for the Type of EQ you are upgrading. There are Weapon scrolls, and Armor Scrolls.

After you have aquired the correct scroll, make sure that the item you wish to upgrade is unequipped. Press the upgrade button at the bottom of the inventory screen, and a new dialog window will open. Select the item you wish to upgrade by double clicking it in the bottom half of the dialog window. It will now appear in the top window, with an upgrade scroll in the strip of squares in the middle. (This is presuming you have the item neccessary to upgrade the equipment.)

Directly below the top display, where your armor to be upgraded is shown, You will see three attributes. The first attribute represents your current and future(potentially) +rating. The first upgrade will be +0 -> +1. The second will be +1 -> +2. The second attribute shows the bonus to capacity that you get from your current upgrade rating. (For some reason, before I upgraded, it did not show what my bonus would be.) For more information about capacity and how it works, visit This Guide at the Asda Story main forums. The final attribute displays how many upgrades you have left, and how many you will have left after the upgrade.

[edit] Failure

Every upgrade has a chance of failure. This chance is directly related to the scroll that you use. NPC purchased scrolls have a 30% chance of failure, or a 70% chance of success. A failure to upgrade does not destroy a weapon in the Asda Story Upgrade system. When you fail to upgrade an item, It takes away 1 potential upgrade slot. Thus, if you succeed 4 times, and fail once, you stop at +4, and cannot upgrade further. (Edit) While also found that Great rank scrolls have reversed odds, a 30% success with a 70% failure but offers a 6% bonus instead of the normal 3%. if put up to max there is a 60% total bonus instead of just a 30% at +10.

If you are not happy with the results of your upgrading, you may also go to a blacksmith and reset the upgrades on your item. You lose all upgrades on the item, but you get all of your upgrades back and may start the process from the beginning for about 333,000 gold.

If you get lucky and your item upgraded to +4, having failed only once, there is another way to get that last upgrade back, without having to reset your successful upgrades. In the item mall there is a scroll that will allow you to reset unsuccessful upgrades on an item. Thus, if you have a +4 item, the scroll will take you from 0/5 upgrade slots to 1/5 upgrade slots.

[edit] Success

Remember I'm Rikuya just upgrading this better then the other guy who made it If you use a great upgrade scroll its 6% but u can fail easily If you use a npc scroll from mix shop u have 3% and is easier to upgrade without failing Luck may also be needed for upgrading and yes greats are better then safes cause if u get a weapon to elite its 15%cap increase and 30%cap increase if u use a great But if u are a noob like the guy who wrote this listen to my plan Step 1: LVL 1-30 should use safe Step 2: LVL 40-60 should use great and buy weapon restores Step 3: LVL 40-60 can also use safe if u wanna waste 370k for 5 safe scrolls Step 4: Use as much luck as you can Step 5: Whisper Rikuya for more info she is smart Thats all folks

+5[elite] can be purple for rare and yellow for uncommon and white for normal +6[art] glows yellow +7[best] glows purple with a little lighting +8[extreme] glows green with lighting +9[super] glows red and has a line over the weapon if u look close +10[arcane] glows like +9 but has a huger glow to it and if u look closely u can see something really cool

[edit] Upgrade Slots

All in game aquired upgrade items will have a maximum of 5 slots, as well as common grade premium items. Premium items can have their upgrade slots increased, as well as their rarity rating. There are 4 rarity ratings for premium items. When you first purchase a premium item, it is considered a common item, and has 5 slots. You must then purchase a booster to increase the rarity of that item to either uncommon, rare, or hero. This gives the item a maximum of +6/+7/+8 potential, respectively, and an equivalent amount of upgrade slots.
